PUMPKIN and PACO GO TO PUERTO RICO!!
Day 2, Part 1

So today's journey takes us to Isabela.  To see where, click HERE.  I have placed photos of the trip that we took there, but first, I have some observations about Puerto Rico in general.

#1)  If you come here, go with a local who can drive

One thing that I have observed is that things like stoplights, turn signals, speed limits, pedestrian traffic don't mean a thing.  You can be at a light, and a group of cars will just go ahead and turn regardless of traffic lights or stop signs.  Best way to describe it is, if anyone has tried to cross the Throgs Neck, or Whitestone bridges on a busy holiday weekend in New York, then that's what driving in Puerto Rico is like, and you'd be better off letting a local drive since they know "How it Works".  I did it, but you MUST have like 6 sets of eyes.  Pedestrians just cross whenever they want, cars park wherever they feel like it, and it's apparently acceptable.  What I did with letting Pumpkin drive was a wise choice, and I was by far, happy about this decision.  She's a pro, and the second best parallel parker next to your humble scribe...

#2)  This place has more toll booths than friggin' New Jersey!

If any of you have gone down the Garden State Parkway in NJ, you'll know what I mean, but there is an added bonus.  Every toll costs a different amount, and despite the fact that we had a rental car, even EZ PASS couldn't make this go smoother.  Each toll is a different price, so bring LOTS of change or wait in line.

#3)   The heavens unleash every day for about 5-10 minutes

Be prepared.  It rains like a cow pissing on a flat rock, but it will only be for about 5-10 minutes.  And then, everything is slick, so watch your step, and be careful driving.  Again, this is where the "Let the Local Drive" comes in handy.

#4)  It's warm outside, but "but mother" cold inside

It's 86 degrees outside with like 50% humidity, but there is a 20 mph breeze so you don't feel it outside all that bad, but when you go indoors to a store, they have the A/C set to refrigeration.  But when you go to peoples homes, the houses are made of concrete, and the floors are too, so in the house it's not all that bad with windows and fans, but in commercial buildings, be ready to freeze your butt off until you adjust.

#5)  I don't know if I've ever had better fish than when I was here

We went to a place one afternoon that Pumpkin said that she and her famil used to go to, and had fish with coconut bread, and all sorts of side dishes.  It was all fried, but in no way tasted greasy.  It was phenominal!  And, it didn't cost us much and I left FULL.  That says a LOT!  I couldn't take pics since the majority of the places we ate were when we were out doing things, and lugging the camera would have been an "Issue".  But take my word for it, if you come here, you won't go hungry.

OK enough kevetching,  More commentary later.  On to the pics...
